Manuel Barrueco is internationally recognized as one of the most important guitarists of our time. His unique artistry has been continually described as that of a superb instrumentalist and a superior and elegant musician, possessing a seductive sound and uncommon lyrical gifts. His career has been dedicated to bringing the guitar to the main musical centers of the world. For three decades he has performed from the New World Symphony in Miami to the Seattle Symphony, and from the Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic to New York’s Lincoln Center.

As SoloDuo, Matteo Mela and Lorenzo Micheli have performed throughout Europe, Asia, the United States, Canada, and Latin America and have been acclaimed everywhere—from New York’s Carnegie Hall to Seoul’s Sejong Chamber Hall, from Kiev’s Hall of Columns to Vienna’s Konzerthaus—as one of the best ensembles ever heard. About one of their performances, “The Washington Post” wrote: “the duo’s playing was nothing less than rapturous—profound and unforgettable musicianship of the highest order.”

Grammy-nominated lutenist Ronn McFarlane brings the lute—the most popular instrument of the Renaissance—into today’s musical mainstream. Since taking up the lute in 1978, Ronn has made his mark in music as the founder of Ayreheart, a founding member of the Baltimore Consort, touring the United States, Canada, England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Germany, and Austria, and as a guest artist with Apollo’s Fire, The Bach Sinfonia, The Catacoustic Consort, The Folger Consort, Houston Grand Opera, The Oregon Symphony, The Portland Baroque Orchestra, and The Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra.

Santa Fe Desert Chorale

Join the Santa Fe Desert Chorale for its 35th anniversary. Led by director Joshua Habermann, this concert ranges from 17th-century Shaker music to outstanding 21st-century compositions and a world premiere, “Reflections,” by Jake Runestad, set to Thoreau’s journal writings. Performance dedicated to the memory of Marlene Nathan Meyerson.

The Mimir Chamber Music Festival proudly presents its twentieth-anniversary season from June 26 through July 7, including a special matinee performance on July 2 in the Kimbell’s Renzo Piano Pavilion, as well as several concerts at the TCU School of Music’s Walsh Center for the Performing Arts. Featuring an array of internationally renowned performing artists, Mimir has been named a “Top 10 Musical Event of the Year” eight times by The Dallas Morning News
