Plan a Visit

Groups of ten or more people are invited to schedule docent-guided or self-guided tours of the Kimbell's permanent collection, architecture, or special exhibitions.

Permanent collection and architecture tours are offered free of charge. All docent-guided tours last one hour.

Group tours in special exhibitions are subject to availability; click your group type to review options.

All reservations must be finalized at least two weeks prior to the date of the tour.

STUDENT/YOUTH GROUPS

All docent-guided tours last one hour. Tour dates, times, and subjects are subject to availability. 10–60 student per hour; 1 chaperone for every 10 students

Special exhibition admission is waived for school groups that schedule docent-guided tours at these times: Tuesdays, 9 a.m.; Wednesdays–Thursdays, 9 and 10 a.m.; and Fridays, 10 and 11 a.m.

PLANNING TIPS FOR GROUPS

Requesting a Group Tour

For more information or to schedule a tour, call the tour programs coordinator, at least two weeks in advance, at 817-332-8451, ext. 249.

Cancellations and Changes

Please contact the tour programs coordinator at 817-332-8451, ext. 249, with any cancellations or changes to a reservation.

Group Sizes

Docent-led tours may accommodate 10–60 students and up to 6 chaperones per hour. Larger groups may request additional tours at different times.

Self-guided group tour reservations permit 20–100 people per hour. Larger groups may request additional tours at different times.

Tour Types

Groups may choose to take free self-guided tours or free docent-led tours focusing on the Kimbell's permanent collection or on architecture.

Both self-guided and docent-led tours of special exhibitions are also available on Wednesday, Thursdays, and Fridays. For groups of 20 or more, the special-exhibition ticket prices are as follows: free for members; $16 for adults; $14 for students and seniors; and $12 for children 6–11.

Lecturing by self-guided group guest lecturers is not permitted in special exhibitions (except during occasional Museum programs). Special permission must be obtained in advance to lecture in the permanent collection. Please contact the tour programs coordinator at 817-332-8451, ext. 249.

Random-access Acoustiguide audio tours are also available. Please reserve them in advance.

Lunch

The Museum does not have inside lunchroom facilities for visiting school groups. Students may eat their lunches outside under the John Peter Smith oak tree at the center of the Darnell Street parking lot. Please do not transport food through the Museum; school groups are responsible for disposing of their trash.
