Designed by teens for teens, this FREE annual event features free admission to the special exhibition Monet: The Late Years, curator chats, teen tours, guest artists, free food, open mic, and more. Explore the galleries, make art, and have fun with your friends!

FAQ

Where is the event located?

Teen Night will be in the Piano Pavilion ONLY. If you are dropped off or park at the Kahn Building, you will need to walk around to the Piano Pavilion, as the Kahn Building will be closed.

 

How much does it cost?

Admission is FREE.

 

Where do I get tickets?

No tickets required. Just come for the fun!

What time is the event?

Teen Night runs from 6 to 9 pm. Doors to the Piano Pavilion will open at 6 pm.

 

How do I participate in the Open Mic?

 

Sign up at the event with a Teen Council member holding a golden clipboard. Space is limited!

 

IMPORTANT DETAILS FOR ALL PERFORMERS:

  • We welcome performers of any kind: singers, spoken word, musicians, actors, dancers, magicians, etc.
  • If you want to play background music for your act, you MUST have the rights to it.
  • Instruments of all kinds are welcome, but please leave personal amps at home. We have a way for you to plug in when you get here.
  • ALL performers who wish to plug-in MUST check-in at the auditorium with their instrument by 6:15 pm to confirm a spot.
  • Please keep content clean and respectful—we’re all here to have a good time!
  • All performances must be five minutes or less.

 

Will there be food?

Yes, and it’s FREE! However, food will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so when it’s gone, it’s gone.

 

Can parents come? 

No. This is a teen-only event. Parents can do drop-offs and make reservations to have dinner at a nearby restaurant.

 

Who can come?

Teens in high school. Teens must bring a valid school ID. Entering freshmen and recently graduated seniors (May or June 2019) are welcome to come! Sorry, no middle school or college teens.

 

What if I don't have a high school ID?

Bring a photo ID that has your birthdate, such as a Texas ID or passport, or a note from a teacher, parent, or guardian.

 

Is the event supervised? 

Yes. Museum educators and security staff will chaperone the evening.

 

Can we leave and come back? 

No. There are no in-and-out privileges.

 

Can I bring in my backpack? 

If you bring a backpack or large purse, you will have to leave it at the parcel check with Kimbell staff.

 

Where can we get dropped off?

On Camp Bowie Boulevard, at our Group Drop-off spot, or you can get dropped off in our free underground parking garage, located off Van Cliburn Way, near the intersection with W. Lancaster Avenue.

Where do I pick up my teen after the event?

At the Group Drop-off spot, located on Camp Bowie Boulevard, or in our free underground parking garage, located off Van Cliburn Way, near the intersection with W. Lancaster Avenue.  We recommend planning ahead and agreeing on a pick-up plan before the event.*

 

*The Kimbell Art Museum is not responsible for teen supervision once they leave the Piano Pavilion. This includes if a teen leaves during the event and after the event has ended.

 

Where can I park?

You can park in our free underground parking garage, located off Van Cliburn Way, near the intersection with W. Lancaster Avenue. More parking is available in front of the Kahn Building off of Van Cliburn Way, or along Van Cliburn Way.

 

Please note that the Kahn Building will be CLOSED during this event, so individuals who park at the Kahn Building must walk around the building to get to Teen Night in the Piano Pavilion.
