Constructing the Kimbell: An Eyewitness Account

Frank Sherwood, architectural engineer, Fort Worth, and Larry Eubank, operations manager, Kimbell Art Museum

Sherwood, who worked for the firm of Preston M. Geren and served as project director for the iconic Kimbell Art Museum by Louis I. Kahn, and Eubank, who as a young man worked on the construction of the building and is today responsible for the daily operations at the Kimbell, will discuss Kahn’s landmark museum building. The Louis I. Kahn Building opened in 1972 and is today recognized as one of the outstanding architectural achievements of the modern era. Accompanied by a rich selection of photographs, the talk will examine the museum’s design and how the team met project challenges and carried out the building’s construction.
